The Remembrance Stones

In St Luke's Memorial Garden
Lie two weather-beaten stones
To many people in Norwood
Their existence is unknown
Not many people stop to look
Or ponder on these stones
They're just two old pieces of granite
Sad, neglected, alone
These are the memorial stones
To honour the Norwood dead
Who lost their lives in World War Two
They were paid for by public subscription
Somebody wanted them moved
People said 'Leave them alone
Even if they are overgrown'
But if we do nothing about them
They will weep tears of their own
